This past Monday RMIT opened their Storey Hall for our 2nd VEX In The Zone tournament of the season. 25 teams from across the greater Melbourne area played over 50 matches robotics action. The RMIT tournament was a definite showcase of how robots evolve between tournaments. We saw teams robots evolve in efficiency and entirely new designs emerge. Teams like Sydenhams Copperfield College came in punching with new well thought autonomous routines and a re-designed robot. Dandenong High School made their In The Zone debut with some really ingenious robot designs that caught their competition off guard. First time competitors Gisborne Secondary College came to RMIT with an excellent robots looking like a veteran robotics team.
Hillcrest College walked away with another Excellence award proving their robotics dominance. A special mention needs to go to Copperfield College who took home the new SMC Pneumatics sponsored Amaze award.
A special thanks needs to go Margaret Jollands and her massive team of volunteers. Without their support we would not been able to pull off such an excellent tournament. We look forward to seeing the RMIT university teams competing at this years nationals in Wangaratta.
